This is just a small representation of the writing resources that are available to you. I hope that you take advantage of them, as they are extremely good for helping learn your way around the publishing world. This list will grow as I get around to it.
General Writing Resources
Predators & Editors - Excellent Reputation Reporting website for Writers
Writer Beware - Maintained by SFWA (Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America)
Absolute Write - I don’t use this site, but many have recommended it as extremely good
Critiquing Websites / Writing Communities
BookCountry - Genre Fiction Writing Workshop owned by Penguin.
Critique Circle - Standard Critiquing Group with premium membership options
Authonomy - Slush Pile / Critique Group owned by HarperCollins
Online Writing Workshop - Used to be operated by DAW but is since independent (as far as I know), critiquing workshop (fee required)
Writing Software
Scrivener - This program is lightweight, reliable, and handles the drafting process extremely well. It has excellent compiling features so I can do clean exports to Word, Kindle, and epub, as well as a handful of other common formats.
Microsoft Word - Don’t judge me. It may be a Microsoft product, but it is stable, handles all formatting types well, and is standardized. I am not recommending free alternatives because I have lost significant amounts of data over the years due to their bugs, general crashes, and software glitches. I have not had this happen with Microsoft Word on a properly maintained system. Of course if you have a virus or malware, MS Word may corrupt files.
