Setting a New Year Resolution has always been a bittersweet thing for me. Some years, I set a reasonable goal that I actually accomplish. Those are few and far between.

These are my goals for this year. I won’t accomplish them all. But I’m going to put in effort to at least improve on them all. That is key. Even marginal success is still success, and I can build on those successes for the future.

Here they are.

  1. Write Two Books.
  2. Edit Three Books.
  3. Order in only once per month. (Hard goal!!)
  4. Buy only 2 books a month. (Hard goal!!)
  5. Replace the Roof.
  6. Add a pool deck.
  7. Mow the lawn once a week. (Hard goal!!)
  8. Keep house clean (Hard goal!!!) (I’ve failed at this one like 4 years in a row so far…)
  9. Get more exercise. This translates to: Swim several times a week in the summer.
  10. Lose 30 pounds. (I currently weigh about 160… I want to be 130.) I expect failure because I want to exchange my belly for muscles elsewhere.
  11. Eat healthier. More soups, more vegetables, less processed foods. Get to cooking 4 from-scratch meals a week day. (3 from scratch meals a day would also be awesome…)
  12. Drink more tea. (3 cups of tea versus one hot chocolate, french vanilla, etc)
I may add more as I have more time to think about it, but this is definitely a lot to try to do, even in a year!
